Increase Bass Settings To Get Max Bass [Windows]

Hello friends, I am back with a new tutorial. I know you all love hearing songs on your PC and I too love this hobby. Some like soft music but some people like me feel that the music is complete after getting the strong bass as expected by our speakers. After finding all settings and experimenting with apps, I am done and I have found the final solution to get the exact, perfect, less distorting and head shaking bass.

All you need is a subwoofer based 2.1 or 5.1 or 69.1 speaker, but make sure you have a subwoofer or else the normal speakers of your laptop will give drunk sound. And yes, if you have good pair of earphones which are supposed to give the same sound effect as expected by speakers, then you can try that too. My settings worked with my 2.1 Speakers and a Nokia earphone. Now get lets start the work. For clearing doubts, I am not just simply gonna show you equalizer settings but much more than that, so keep reading.

For Windows 7 & 8 Users

If you are a Windows 7 or Windows 8 user, then you are lucky as Windows 7 and 8 provides Bass enhancement. Please note, if you have installed Realtek Audio drivers then the setting will be disabled for you, in this case skip to next step. 

Now if you are using default Windows drivers for your speakers, then open Sound settings. To do so, Right click on your speaker icon and select Playback devices.

After that double click your default Audio Device. You default audio device is the one which has a green colored check sign. After clicking on it, you will entire the sound properties.

Now from the top tab, select the Enhancements tab. There you will find bass boost, check this enhancement and select the quantity of dB. The normal one is 6 dB but you can increase it to 9 dB or 12 dB but make sure that you are getting good amount of voice as increasing the base will lower your speakers voice temporarily till the settings are applied. You can trial check all the available settings.
 After switching to higher base levels, you will definitely get a increase in bass for sure.

As I have said above, it is a full fledged music player, it offers tonnes of settings to complete the experience of music. This time we are talking about bass, so we will only focus on bass. First of all download AIMP3 music player using the link below. Don't worry, its just a 7 MB setup file.

After downloading, install it and open settings. To open AIMP3 settings, just press Ctrl+P and you will get the settings page. In Playback settings, select Sound Effects

From the MOD option, select the Surround to Surround Mode 2. 

Now let us go to the final settings page, to get there click on DSP Manger button from the bottom. 

In the second row, second column, you will find bass level, slide the bass level to around 60%, it will be enough to give the effect. As we all know, increasing bass will distort the sound, so we need to maintain an equilibrium within base and music, to do so we will normalize the bass automatically whenever the song has ups and downs.

AIMP3 has a setting for the same, from the same page where you changed the bass, you will find the option for normalizing volume, from there select the second option which says, Normalize by Amplitude and close the settings page. 

Now let us configure the final setting, the old and widely used Equalizer. to open the equalizer, open the main music player window and select the bottom right button (Shown by Red Box), it will slide open equalizer window. Now make the settings as shown in the image below.

After opening the equalizer, turn on the equalizer, by clicking on the button which is marked as 1 in the image. To check that the equalizer is on and running, the button will show a light of the color of theme.

Now the second slider is of bass level (again), to get heaviest bass slide the button to bottom or top most and to get medium level bass, let it be in center.

After all this experiment I hope you get the bass you expected from the tutorial.

Enable .Net Framework on Windows 8

Dot Net Framework is a programming tool and used by many developers. Some programs even use it to a small extent but fail to execute when the .Net framework redistributable is missing on that PC. Some of my favorite programs that use it are GTA 4, Freemake video converter and many more. I said many more because I install this software as soon as I install Windows as I know this is a useful and well needed software, so those applications which need it get it without asking it from me.

Now coming to point, everyone knows that the latest Microsoft venture is Windows 8.
I liked it, you hated it and your friend liked it, so you, yes you can't alone determine that Windows 8 is a fail.
Some months back, Windows has been frequently launching beta versions of Windows 8 and they all, even the Pro version activated has a same problem and that it.

This error dialog box pops up whenever you install a program that requires .Net Framework installed in order to run properly and without errors. But the tragedy is, you get the same message while installing the .Net framework itself from your own side. Windows team is so "Besharam" that they could,t fixed it even after launching newer versions of Windows back-to-back.

So how can this be fixed?

So, to get started the things you need are; A Windows 8 Installation disc and Admin privileges

First of all locate Windows 8 Setup files path. If you have DVD, you can insert it in the DVD Drive, if you have a Windows Setup Image files, you can mount it and if you have the whole content of Windows 8 DVD copied to your Hard Disk, then it will work too. And if you have nothing from the things I asked above, then you may gracefully close this tab :-)

Let us consider, you have Windows 8 DVD inserted in your DVD drive, which is labeled as G:\ then you can go ahead and read further steps.

Running CMD with admin privileges
Hit the start page and type CMD. Now right click on it and select "Run as Administrator" from the bottom menu bar.

When the CMD Window opens, run the following command

dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /Source:J:\sources\sxs

Things to note:

• Replace J:\ with your Windows 8 setup DVD or files folder
• You can copy above code but can't paste it using Ctrl+V Shortcut, so to paste it, use Right Click from your mouse inside CMD Window and click on Paste. :-)
• Installing .Net Framework will take upto 5-6 minutes and the progress bar is of rolling kind, it first fills up like hell and then stops at 66% and after two minutes it then again jumps to 99.8% and again after a break of two minutes it finally completes.

Done, when the execution completes, your machine should have been running .Net framework services.

Latest Airtel 2G GPRS Plans - 2013 January

This week, the last week of 2012, Airtel seems to be very ridiculous as they have slashed their 2G GPRS plans by half. This is gonna troll all the Airtel Subscribers who prefer mobile Internet. I know its a sad news for most of people, but as per my duty, I should tell you the actual summary of this WTF incident. Most plans have been chnaged including those motnhly and others internet packs. So have a lok over the plans, last updated in 26 Dec, 2012

Daily Internet Plans

There is no change in this category, however here is the list of all plans available. I am not gonna describe you all in detail, you can see a detailed overview for more information in my last post.

Monthly Internet Plans

Airtel has changed this one, a lot which you are gonna hate a lot. Psst, keep reading this post, in the end I have gave some worthy suggestions on choosing a good plan which is still useful :-)

Now there is not unlimited Internet plan at all which was announced recently; the Rs 149 plan. Instead they have slashed the existing Rs 98 plan, which was 2000 MB in June, 1000 MB in July and now a mere 600 MB -_-

Also its not monthly at all, as the Rs 908 one is of 21 days and the 125 for 1000 MB is of 28 days. Looks like they love February.

Others

As people think different, so they need plans that actually suit them. In this case the "Others"  category pleased them with the Rs 18 plan and the Rs 35 plan, but this category has also been affected.

Misc Plans

As in the last week, Airtel introduced two new plans, namely the Night internet pack and the Facebook Internet pack, which seemed to please its users. The night internet plans is the best for Airtel users in terms of Data usage and price. Its 400 MB for only Rs 9. And the bad news is that they have changed the newly introduced Facebook plan a little. The change is that its now a Auto Renewal plan lasting for 7 days. This means, if you activate Facebook plan today, it will activate automatically day by day for 7 days, so it costs you 280 MB for 21 Rs and for 7 days. if you smart enough, you can also deactivate in the last minute to escape from the *121*8# menu.

What to choose

Now its time to remove the facepalm and choose what's good. So here are my recommendations:

• Rs 10 -  100 MB for 1 Day
• Rs 60 -  1000 MB for 14 Days
• Rs 9 - 400 MB for one night

To receive settings for your phone, Send MO to 54321 and the Airtel service person will shortly send you settings for your phone. Apply these settings and you can start using Internet on your phone.

Jail-broken iOS Vs Rooted Android Phone

Sometimes I feel if the cold war has started again, though this time it seems to be between Android and iPhone. Each operating system has its own bunch of fans and fanatics, and different kinds of users. There are users who do not know much about operating system but are still satisfied with its comprehensive apps and easy to tweak facility, while on other hand we have techies, who wish to know about all features of their handsets. When it comes to the hard core geeks, they feel exploring features at the core, both including hardware and software. Android users basically install custom ROMs and kernel on their devices, whereas iPhone users have different option as they can install jailbreak and cydia to download various apps.

So, let’s decide which is better- Jailbreaking or Custom ROM. However, before you use any of the devices, you can’t decide whether it is good or bad. You have to exactly give your opinion on the basis of devices you have used and your experiences while using them. As of me, I have used Samsung Galaxy S3 and regarding iphone, I have researched on the internet in detail. My Samsung S3 runs on the resurrection remix (Android 4.03) and the custom kernel called siyah kernel.

Jailbreaking vs. Custom ROMs

Although when you start comparing between jailbreaking and custom ROM, you will find very few distinctions between the two. You can check out the difference as you further read this article.

Rooting:

Rooting is only feasible with android devices, as it does not require any special ROM for doing so. Once you root your android devices, you are independent to install and update any application you want to. By rooting your device you can exactly install plenty of apps on your handset, freeze system software, and manage phone calls or even make it more better :-)

Jailbreaking:

Jailbreaking is more or less a same rooting technology but it is only used for the Apple operating system. However when it comes to jailbreaking or iOS you can’t be democratic as Android. Moreover you have to seek for some special permission, and install a couple of extra software and plugins by using Cydia for jailbreaking.

Options to explore

Rooting or jail breaking of a device gives a huge spectrum to use your phone the way you like to. You can install new apps and customize things by using cydia. But as you know that everything good encapsulates evil as well, so by using cydia you can download tons of apps but somehow it slows down the speed of your handset considerably. Beside this, it is not an official segment by iphone so it is of obvious that it will create a little mess around. Same comes with android as when you start searching around apps on the Google play; sometimes it is very difficult to find anything worth at.

What’s next?

Once you have rooted your handset, you have to install apps, and here let me tell you that you have to apply your common sense. Both android and iOS are fetched with root- level apps though iOS do not permit you a sudden installation of widgets, so you have to look for tweaking at first. Beware! Apple is annoyed with the jailbreaking process. Therefore, sometimes it blocks down all the jailbreaking customization. However, this does not happen with android.

Conclusion

It is very difficult to declare a result that who is winner. Android is good, but installation on Cydia is truly impressive. So, make sure choose what suites you the best and keep enjoying.

Setup Parental Control in Windows 7

Parental Control is a very useful feature that comes with Windows 7 to help parents and guardians manage and restrict PC usage by their kids/siblings. With the help of this feature you can block access to games, let them use PC according to specific rule of time limits and timings and block all applications and games.

Every parent is obsessed with the habit of their kids using PC for longer run which has its own bad effects with various aspects. Firstly that child will go down in his/her studies, secondly it will make his/her eye-sight weak and finally they will be nerds. To over come this problem, the best OS in the World named "Windows 7" has something useful to you. The feature of Windows that I am talking about is "Parental Control" and with this useful feature, you can block access to all games, let them use PC only for allocated time and let them use PC how they should be doing.

So if you want to control your sibling's/kid's PC usage habits, then you are at the right place as I have written a detailed article for helping you set-up Parental Control in your Windows 7 based PC.

So without wasting any time, let us start. First of all you need to add a password to your own admin Windows account as it is a necessary requirement. To add a password, follow the steps provided below.
Note: If your Windows Account is already having a password allocated to it, then skip this step.

• Click on Start Button and then click on user picture. It will open your account settings.
• Now select "Create a password for your account" and create a password for your account.
• Type and confirm the password and add a password hint then.

After creating password create a new account and name it "Home" or "Guests" This is because when we setup parental control, we need a separate password free account on which the restrictions are to be putted. This account is to be used by all other people in your house except you, because you will use admin account.  And the point of adding password in Admin account was that, there will be no restrictions on the admin account as usual but on the other account which is password free will be used by kids and they will be forced to do so because they do not know the password for admin account.

Now to create a new Windows account on your PC, 

• Click on start button and then on user picture. This will open the user accounts window.
• Now click on manage other accounts.
• Now click on "Create a new account" and then type the account name. Let it be named "Home"
• Select the standard account option which is under the name field and then click on OK

Now from where you click on User accounts window, open it again and then click on Parental Controls which is located in the left-most bottom part. Now it is time to set parental controls on the "Home" account.

When you have clicked on Parental Controls, it will ask you for the account to continue, click on the "Home" account. Now select the following from the window "On, enforce current settings" It will enable parental controls for the "Home" account. After enabling Parental Controls, you will be able to edit three settings namely, Time limits, Games, Allow or block specific programs

Now let us understand what the settings actually mean.

Time Limits

Using this feature, you can let user use or not use PC for specific time. By this setting you can manage the time for which the PC can be used. Please Note, that this setting does not blocks PC usage for specific period of time like one hour or two hour or so. This setting actually lets you specify the hours in which can the PC be used like 10 AM to 8PM for Sunday and 3PM to 8PM in working days. This setting is therefore calender based and NOT magnitude based. You will understand it more clearly by applying it.

To enable time limits, click on "Time Limits" and after clicking on it, you will get a graph like grid in which you can specify timings for PC usage. Now how to set timings? Its very simple, just drag the cursor to tell Windows the PC usage. The blue area will represent the blocked time and the rest of white will represent the allowed time. For example if you DO NOT want to let your child use PC between 3AM to 7AM then the grid will look like this.

Now moving on to next feature, blocking games on PC.

Block games

This feature is less effective because of many reasons. This does not mean that you can't block games completely all games, you can do so too by using the next setting but let me tell you why this settings sucks. Block games settings uses game ratings based on ages and other factors to block games. Firstly this setting is applicable to system pre-installed games like Chess Titans and other useless games. So there is no over all benefit of using this feature. But wait, it doesn't means that you can't block games. In fact you can block each and or even every application from running including games. So I recommend you to use next option.

Allow or Block specific programs

This is the best use of parental control feature of Windows 7. Using this feature, you can allow only specified programs to run or even block each and every program for your kids in your PC. The other benefit of this feature is that no virus can effect your PC when your kids are using pen drives for sharing data. Once this feature is enabled, then you do not to fear of any harm to your PC and games will be completely blocked.

Note:The games and applications will be still available for admin use and will not be blocked permanently so their is no harm for blocking them for kids.

To block and allow specified programs, click on "Allow or block specific programs"  and then click on 

"User can use only programs that I allow". Now Windows will search for all programs installed on your PC and then show you. Click on programs that you want to allow your child to use. Ticking on program's will make them able to be executed by the user other than you. So enable all useful programs that you think will be needed by your kid and all other programs will be left blocked. Optionally you can browse for programs that are not in the list but need to be unblocked.

In Simple Language: Tick on the programs that you want to allow your child to run them from his account and all remaining unchecked (All programs) on your PC will be left blocked.

Whenever your child tries to open any game/applications that is not allowed by you, then this message will appear.

P.S. If you child needs this program for emergency usage, you can allow him/her by using the "Ask an administrator for permission" Which can be accessed from the bottom of the warning box. When you will click on it, it will ask for the password and when you will enter the password, it will ask you to keep blocking or unblock this program.

How To Hide Files Like No Other Does

Everyone in their PC have their secret and not to be shared files like personal pictures, documents, love letters and other epic kind of shit. Don't lie, you too have something secret like this. The first way of hiding that comes to our mind is simply changing the folder properties to hidden, but time has changed.

Let us go to the basics of hiding a file, what is the first way. What is the first method that comes to your mind? Obviously the first thing that comes to your mind to hide a file is the click checking the hidden attribute from the property dialog box of the file of folder. For your information, this is the silliest way to hide a file. nowadays everyone knows how to show hidden files and folders, so this option is no more useful and thus you need to look out for alternatives to it.

In this post I will show you two different awesome methods to hide files that can not be easily discovered by anyone else. The methods are binding files and hiding partitions. Let us start with the first method of file security called as Binding

File Binding

File binding is a very new technique used by hackers and nerds to hide their files in the best possible way. When a file is binded, you will not able to recognize that there is something unusual. Didn't understood what I said, then see the example and you will get to know what I am talking about. See the following image below:

What did you saw above? Obviously an image with something written over it. Now save this image and open the saved image using WinRar. Yes I am not kidding, you need to force open the image using Winrar/ Open it first and see the results. I am damn sure that you are amazed by seeing it. How the fuc can files be putted in an image and in perfect condition.

Well this is the reason why you are here to learn how I did this. The technology I have used for doing so is known as file binding. By using this method you can easily, securely save your private files into images without affecting them.

So all you need are the following things:-

1. An Image in which the files are to be merged
2. A compressed file in Zip, Rar or 7zip format in which your files are compressed already
3. A little portable software (Download link)

Image

Try to use an image that has more probability of being neglected by any kind of person. You can use image from program files, not only they look weird but one would also neglect them for the reason that it may effect the system. You can use splash screens of programs too. Now after choosing the image to be raped, now lets move to next step.

Archive

After selecting the image, you need to make an archive of the files you want to secure. I mean to say that we can not insert files inside images but only archives. You can use any of the archiving format like Rar, Zip or 7Zip according to your needs. For more security, you can also add password to these files. Now after creating the archive of the files that are to be secured, lets face the final step.

Application

It is time to use the application. First of all download the application using the link below.

Download Jpg+File Binder

Open the application you just downloaded and you will get something like this on your computer screen.

Firstly browse for the picture, it accepts only jpeg image i.e. The images that have a .jpg extension.
Then browse for the archive that you created by adding your private files into it.
Finally specify the name for output image that will be created containing the archive and then click on OK

So this was easy enough and secure too. I hope that you understood this and loved this too.
The only disadvantage of this method, is that when someone edits the meta properties of the image, the archive will become corrupted. By meta properties I mean by star rating, author and adding comments to the image. Hopefully changing the image's file name doesn't affect the archive and you need not fear about meta as no one ever gives a flying fuc to it. And the probability of changing meta is 1 from 10000000000000000

Tips

• Please make sure that your binded image looks genuine. If you do not want to rise suspense, then rename your image to DSC_(4 digit number).jpg This will make your image look genuine even if the size of archive is upto 10 MB as modern cameras make pictures of this size usually.
• This trick can be used to troll Blogger.com You can upload archives in form of images. So it means you get hotlinks for downloads, unlimited band width and unlimited file storage. You need to think different like me for these type of ideas.
• Before binding image with archive, its better to put password in archives for additional security.

The is the first method of hiding files like in a unique and totally different way. Now I want to introduce you another one, and which is by hiding partition.

Partition Hiding

Yes, you read right. Why to hide a folder when we can hide the entire drive? This is how this trick works.

1. You use a small or any partition and copy all your private files in that partition.
2. You hide the whole partition so that no one can see the partition.
3. Done, Now whenever you need your files, just re enable the partition and enjoy security of your files.

Seems useful for securing files. Even I use this technique for securing my private files from losers. This method is completely reversible and easy to do. Let me clear you how this trick works.

All local drives have some letters suffixed to them like (D:). So if we remove the drive letter, the specific partition will become hidden and inaccessible upto when we want. To show the partition again, we just need to assign the drive letter again to it. It all takes hardly 2-3 minutes and fully safe and reversible.

How to hide a partition

So if you are ready to hide the required partition, then follow the below steps:

• Goto Run (Win+R) and type " Diskmgmt.msc ", It will open the disk management service.
• Right Click the partition that you want to hide and select " Change Drive Letters and Paths"
• Now click on Remove and click on OK on the warning that will splash on the screen.
• Now open My Computer and bang, the partition is gone.

How to show the partition again

• Follow the steps 1 and 2 from above steps and then click on Add.
• Now it will ask you for assigning the drive letter, use the default that is suggested to you.
• Open my computer again and you will be able to see the partition back and running.

Tip:  Always try to hide those partitions which are not being used by any installed program or any game. This may result in malfunction of that program. In other words, never install games and programs on drive other than C:

God of War 4 will be launched! Pre-Book it and then wait for it. The main motto of my saying is that the same console will play all upcoming series of games. So all you need to do is buy a PS3 or Xbox  and then games for it. You need not to worry about the compatibility.

Now comes the interesting part. Never forget those PC Gamers and especially those freaks who can do anything for getting games like teaming up with pirates bay and wasting hours to search for cracks.

After collecting game, you will try to check the game (sounds obvious). And finally you get some gift lift like this.
OMG I am getting 5 FPS of gameplay. I mean, Don't give a Fu*k. Whats wrong with you ( My PC )?

I installed the latest drivers and tweaked my PC for best performance.
And then you bother to check the requirements. The Official website suggested me to use ATI XYZ Or NVidia ZXY. Here XYZ and ZXY indicates the latest version of graphic cards respectively whose price tags can make people shit bricks.


If you are self dependent and you now how cool are new games, then spending thousand of bucks won't matter at all. But what about youngsters who depend on their parents of money.

How can they convince them to spend thousands for a new graphic card. As usual the son will be first asked what is the purpose of installing a graphic card. Parents will also add up questions like: Is this a new device, It was not needed in my time and why do you need it?

You will be thinking hard in mind what to say. You can't say that it is needed for playing hard core PC games. And if you say so, then you will get a reply like this. Ahha, All you do is play games and Facebook, Who (the fuck) needs to study?
So what to do now. You are totally hopeless. Now you have two options:

Goto gaming parlor and play what you like. This is the best way according to me for experiencing awesomeness, and it works for sure. I have wasted hundreds my pocket money for doing so. My favorite PS3 game is God Of War 3. Now you will say why so.

This is because I am a little pathetic guy and get angry very quickly and heavily. So all I need to go there and sit for 30 minutes slashing the enemies in the most dirty way possible.Trust me it works, if you are angry for some reason, then give a try to God Of War 3 and you will return home happy and relaxed than before.

The above paragraph depicted the first option for you to enjoy FTW games for small cash. The Pros and Cons of Piracy

Piracy - A 6 letters word that describes the free & illegal usage or sharing of content like music, movies, games and applications and many more digital stuff. It’s obviously correct to say that there are more people who prefer piracy than paying for the original content. I would like to add that Piracy in any smaller or even smallest form is completely illegal until the owner of the content enables you to do so. Many debates and acts have been passed since independence of many countries to protect the goods of original authors and producers but still we are choosing piracy over becoming a legit customer. Have you ever thought why it is so? I have thought about piracy this week and today I am here to present some facts about piracy, why it so done and why people prefer piracy over becoming a legit customer. Let us start with different types of content of which piracy is done by us.

Piracy and Movies

 As you can see the above image depicts the bad truth of piracy. People can watch movies in three ways and 2/3 people prefer the pirate mode to watch movies. It’s obvious that who wants to pay hard earned money for watching a movie when he/she can do the same by downloading it for free! One more point to note is why should one book a ticket for the movie standing in a long queue and then get disappointed by listening that “The show is houseful man!” The quality of choice depends on the nature of the person as shown in the above image. In modern time, these are the three ways to watch movies but we can't forget the fourth one and that is DVDs. So will piracy still win even now, let's see the results of what happens when you buy a pirated DVD and an original DVD:

1.     It is very much affordable being around $1 whereas the original movie DVD may cost you $8 to $10

2.     The pirated DVD is available in the market within one week of the release of movie and the original DVD takes some three to four months to do so.

3.     Pirated DVD will come along with several other movies released on the same weekend, so you pay for one and get four to five movies extra for free which makes more time pass but on the other hand you will get the specific movie in the original DVD you purchase, In some cases you may get bonus soundtracks too, but who needs them?

4.     The pirated DVD will be prone to Fakeness and the DVD used to burn are of serious low quality, so your DVD can be easily damaged by just making a few scratches, but on the other hand the original DVD will be placed in a very good looking plastic case and the DVD used too will have better life and stability to play on almost all DVD players.

After reading the above four facts, it’s obvious that piracy won. While buying a new thing we check for its advantages first and then its price tag. In India its different, here people prefer the price tag first. In spite of low quality, one would prefer choosing a pirated DVD as it is damn hard to wait and watch the FTW movies. Pirates Win again, Arrr. And why the Fu*k should one wait for these FTW movies, instead become a new generation modern pirate and goto any torrent site and watch that movie in Full HD 1080p Blu Ray quality after some time depending on the internet connection, as easy as that and this method is completely free of cost.

Piracy and Songs

Listening to sings is everyone's favorite time pass. Everyone has his/her favorite singer and downloads his songs whenever a new album comes out in the market. B!tch please, album, market, what are you talking about, we download these songs ASAP and share them like viruses using Blue Tooth. This is in fact another true story as it is very hard to find a person paying for music. We are living on earth where songs can be downloaded by just Googling the song's title. iTunes is a word that most of the Apple users know. iTunes is an online marketplace where you can buy songs in digital form to enjoy them on your Apple based device. The main purpose of iTunes is to provide high quality songs in digital form. Nearly all international artists sell their songs on iTunes as it is easier to buy songs rather than buying albums from Music stores. But we are talking about piracy and piracy is still rocking here in iTunes. Just Google your song's name and add iTunes rip and you will get the best quality of that sing in M4A format (MP4 Audio). And no problem if you want to get the album of your favorite artist, just search for it in Pirate-bay and the album will be playing on your device after few minutes. Right now while writing this post I am too listening to an iTunes Rip song :p

Piracy and Games

Games are games and they do not need any description. Every child from age of 5 years like games and the craze for PC games arises as soon as he becomes a teenager. Nowadays games are becoming more and more addictive with the introduction of new techniques and gaming hardware. Usually a hardcore PC game will cost you around $45 to $50 or maybe much more than that. How can one afford these price tags. This gave arise to Game Rips and now everyone could enjoy that game easily for free. If you do not have an internet connection, you can get your favorite game within $2 and enjoy the game easily. And if you have an unlimited Internet plan then you are living in heaven, provided that you have a good configuration gaming PC. The image below defines the goodness of piracy of games. The first one shows you that you do not need to spend many bucks in order to get the game but only a few and the second image shows "How you can save environment by piracy." Well as a matter of fact, it helps indirectly in saving our environment. The only thing bad in the pirated games is the usage of cracks and sometimes, these cracks can be virus instead and harm your computer severely, so think twice before using a cracked game.

Piracy and Websites

Piracy is also performed for web content too. Here web content means articles, codes and and piracy is related with copying and sharing of content without giving proper credits. Many newbie bloggers are too lazy so they copy-paste articles from other top blogs and publish them on their own blog. But a recent change in Google search engine's algorithm, the spam blogs are being penalized for doing it by stopping the organic traffic. I am too aware of it and though every content you see on my blog is completely made from scratch, making me the respective owner of it and when needed I put credits for images used. I am good guy while blogging and hate piracy most because I have found some people that republish my posts without giving proper credits. Even I have filed cases against these spammer webmasters and bloggers and finally I won and Google deleted their posts. If you are a blogger, then I strongly recommend you to make your own original content to get more traffic from Google and respect from your readers. With respect to piracy, not only content is ripped but codes are too. For example: A Blogging site released a widget named "Mashable Styled Social Subscription Widget" which when added displays a social sidebar (just like the famous social blog Mashable.com) in the blog looking beautiful and organized at the same time. The site here I am talking about is www.Way2blogging.org by Harish Dasari. Now his widget can be found in almost all blogging blogs and they do not even give credits to him. But again, good guy Google has rewarded him for his hard-work by increasing his website's organic traffic and rankings. So I request you again that make sure you do not become a pirate if you are a blogger by passion. 

The Truth Behind Piracy and Who Feels the Pain of it

It is obvious that Piracy is a good thing for all those poor guys with low pocket money and piracy helps them to enjoy the goodness of new era of digital media. Piracy on the other hand also a nightmare of the creators of media. Well they are hating piracy as it ruins their profit and also the money that they should be getting from their hard-work. A normal person will not fell its guilty for piracy but when you will create your own games and music, you will come to know how bad it feels when you see someone copying your content. It is obvious that many of us are not the original content creators but when it comes to blogging, there are many people who earn their livelihood from it. Nowadays every wants to be a blogger and when he reaches the success and finds that people are copying his/her posts, he feels very sad and angry. So he will take legal help from major service like DMCA and take-down the copy-paster. What will happen if you are found pirating any music, game or movie and someone takes it seriously and calls police to your home? I know this is not impossible as there are many pirates in the world and the recovery from piracy will take around 50 to 60 years acc. to me. The same thing is done by some protest groups recently and the results were satisfactory. I am talking about the shutdown of huge pirated file sharing site Mega-Upload. The site has been closed down previously and the founder has been arrested. Not only this, But the torrent site ThePirateBay's founder has been arrested some days ago too. Looks like that the content creators are enough serious this time. Let’s look some more cases of Piracy.

Torrent Sites Case of Indian Govt.

The torrent sites were blocked for a while by the Indian government by seeing the loss in earning of producers done by torrent giants like The Pirate’s Bay and Kickass torrents and also the free video sharing site Vimeo that kicks off the copyrights problem. The ban continued for a period of some weeks and then the ban was removed automatically. What was done for weeks by the pirate’s then? Nothing that hard to enjoy piracy. First fact is that the Govt. forgot to block secure addresses of Pirate sites. I mean that we could still access these sites by adding Https:// in front of Urls, as easy as that. Every Pirate is at least a little geek who can do this with a breeze. Many other people used VPN connection so they didn’t even noticed anything about this ban. And guess what, the ban was removed after only two weeks or less!

Famous songs site Songs.Pk

The famous and evergreen free MP3 songs site Songs.pk was banned by the Indian Govt. some months ago for the reason that it provided free music disrespecting the interests of the music creators. Nothing serious even now, we still had access to Djmaza which is the best alternative for downloading free Bollywood and International Pop music. But the point is the site was blocked, it was blocked. The owner is again back with a new domain named songspk.pk and all the songs were secure in their own servers so all he needed is to buy a new domain and bang, Piracy again won. Problem?

These two cases clarify that no one can stop piracy and if they want to, it will take years of hard work and strictness towards piracy. But is Piracy a good habit or are we becoming thieves day by day? Even after knowing that Piracy is illegal and can be very strictly taken, we must give up this habit for contributing to the hard workers who spend many hours day and night to make that awesome content to let you enjoy it and you just pirate it. But this should not happen, we must support the artist & writers and other people who create the original content by buying it. It will help them feel that they are doing well, so that they will become more awesome next time by seeing your support. Here are few more alternatives to Piracy:

For Normal Pirates:

Stop Piracy and quit torrenting: If you want that FTW quality, then piracy can never replace it. Buy original content and support the artists.
Use Gaming Parlor: Gaming parlors are also a great alternative to Piracy of games. You can head to gaming parlors and enjoy the quality and high graphics based games for very low amount of money and its worth trying if you are a hardcore gamer.
Buy original Music CDs: If you want to enjoy your favorite music, then goto Music shop in your nearby area and purchase the music CD. A normal music CD costs around $1 to $2 which is not such a big amount to pay if the music is worth it.
For bloggers: If you are a new blogger, copying content from other sites may seem fun and easy for you but, you need to stop that if you want to become successful in this blogging field. You can’t fool teacher (Google) by showing him copied content.
Last but the best: Please spread the awareness of piracy and its disadvantages with your friends and promote yourself to become a grownup legit customer if you want quality and help from officials.

Organize Giveaways: Launching giveaways and gifting freebies can help producers to reduce piracy but they must make sure that they do it at their best for maximum positive results.
Chop Down Price: The price tag makes a huge difference on the consideration of the buyer to buy the product or not. if your product is very costly,you will get negligible sales and the customers will run after piracy. So always try your best to reduce the product's cost if you want to increase your sales.
Take Legal Help: If your content is copied then you can file a free DMCA complaint to take down the victim easily. It usually takes less than a week and you must complain if you are the only creator of the content though.

WinRar vs 7zip: Which is better?

File compression means to compress the files to save disk space and faster copying of data. Though media files like songs and movies can't be much compressed and have a very high compression ratio, But on the other hand #games and #applications have very low compression ratio, depending on the nature of files included in the application/game. The lower the compression ratio, the less is size of compressed file and it also increases the time to decompress the file too. But in nowadays we have a plenty of time to decompress as if we compress a game, it will become smaller in size and thus increasing free space in removable drives like flash drives. So it means we can carry four compressed games or one installed game at a time.

             Compression ratio = Compressed file size/Actual file size X 100

In easy language, If the full installed game is of 2 GB and the compressed version of it is of 1 GB, then the compression ratio is 50%, which is not bad if you want to carry more stuff in the same drive.

Now when it comes to choosing the best compression software, the following things should be kept in mind:

What determines how good is a compression software?

• Does it have a good compression ratio?
• Does it decompresses quickly?
• Does it supports SFX (SelF EXtracting Archives) archives? (Optional)
• Is it popular?

I will answer these four question by comparing two compression softwares, WinRar and 7Zip. You may be familiar with WinRar as it is replacing WinZip very quickly. Now, most pirated compressed softwares and games are compressed using WinRar. What has made WinRar this popular? And what about 7Zip. 7Zip is a new comer and has more power and less compression ratio that you can never imagined. In the end of this post I will show you the awesome power of 7Zip, so read the full post if you don't wanna miss the WOW part. So lets test these apps hand-to-hand.

Test 1: Compression Ratio

Compression ratio is the most important factor for any file compression software. As I have told you that the compression ratio is inversely proportional to the extraction time, but still having a low compression ratio is very useful.This is because of the following reasons

• If the compression ratio is lower, then it will decrease the file size.
• Download will complete quickly
• Less #internet data will be used.
• Your file will become popular in p2p sites, where people look for the smallest file size before downloading.

So after knowing the benefits, the time increased in extracting the files is negligible at all. Now lets see what you can compress with high and low compression ratio:

Media files: Like MP3, M4A and all video files have very high compression ratio of 99% or even 100%. So its useless to compress these files as media files have a different compression method, and that is by changing data rate and frequency. So you should never try to compress media files and use them as it is.

Documents: Like PDF, [.]Doc and others have also a negligible compression ratio around 95% to 100%
So there is no need to compress them. But if the document is a HTML file, then you shall get low compression ratios due to a number of uncompressed files present in the html website's content folder.

Games: Games are game changer in the compression ratio. You can get ratios from 0% to 100%. Basically it depends how the game is programmed and what resources does it use. For example, if the game has cut-scenes of [.]Bik format (Bink Video), it will have a high compression ratio and on the other hand if it uses gaming engine like RAGE and Euphoria, then it might be helpful as cut-scenes of games using these engine are generated on the spot and thus have a low compression ratio. One more plus point is that games have many raw files that are uncompressed so as to get faster game-play. So that is the reason you get very low compression ratio while compressing games.

So we will use a game in the compression test as most of the games have a low compression ratio.
So the test starts here, in the test I will compress the game GTA: San Andreas using two different software WinRar and 7Zip. Here are the specs of my PC:

CPU: Intel Dual Core E 5700 3.0 GHz
RAM: 2 GB DDR3 Kingston
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit (Genuine and not torrented)

So here the test starts, in this test I will try to compress San Andreas in a grouped manner. Lets see the file size before compression and after compression.

Note: The compression was done with highest setting possible and the game is untouched.

Summary Of Test 1

You should be pleased to know that both of the softwares have done their work in a good way. WinRar compressed a 4.7 GB game to 667 MB and on the other hand, the powerful guy 7Zip did it in only 476 MB which is around 10 times smaller than the original installed game. Apart from giving lower compression ratio, 7Zip has one problem, and that is it takes slightly more time than WinRar, but after all what matters is lower compression ratio and 7Zip did this perfectly.

So the winner of this round is 7Zip, Yipee!!!

Test 2: Decompression Speed

Decompression speed also plays an important role, but in the test I am testing only two software namely WinRar and 7Zip. In the both software, the decompression speed of compressed files is almost same. So there is no need to worry about this. I added this point to let you know about some more compression softwares like KGB Archiever and UHARC which may offer lower compression ratio but their decompression speed sucks and in some cases the speed of decompression maybe more than that of compression. So why use these apps when you can enjoy faster decompression and lower decompression time.
So the winner is : Draw Both WinRar and 7Zip have identical and fast decompression speed.

Test 3: SFX Archives Support

SFX archives are the compressed files that have the ability to decompress themselves without the need of root software installed that created them. For example a SFX based WinRar archive can be decompressed without using WinRar. They look more beautiful and helpful and just cost additional 500 KB to the archive. For example, a compressed [.]Rar archive is of 50 Mb then its SFX version will be of 50.5 MB. Below is a screenshot of how a SFX WinRar looks, the field that are blackened out can be edited manually as per needs of the user to personalize it.

Not only these fields, there are more tons features, I will tell them to you later after sometime. I will tell you more on how you can make your own WinRar SFX archive. So Stay tuned to the blog and subscribe for quicker access. So its obvious that SFX archives looks more good than extracting manually using WinRar. Now what about 7Zip? 7Zip also supports SFX archives but not in a better way WinRar does. In 7Zip, the user is given very less options to customize the SFX and the SFX archive looks boring too. Whatever, have a look below too:

Test 4: Popularity

Popularity is also one of the points to be considered when choosing for a perfect compression software. this is the reason  why WinRar is more popular than 7zip. Do you know that Winrar was started 17 years ago by Eugene Roshal (its developer), in year 1995. this may be the reason as it provided better compression ratio than WinZip, Oh BTW in this time no one can call WinZip as a compression utility. The drawbacks of WinZip are following:

• Compression ratio is never less than 95%
• Its better to just copy files rather then compressing it for the sake of saving a slightly more space

Though its was less useful than compared to WinRar and 7Zip but still it has following benefits.

Note: I am talking about benefits of [.]Zip compression and not WinZip, It always sucked.

• Zip files can be accessed and created without the need of any additional software unlike WinRar and 7zip. Now even mobiles and Linuxes support [.]Zip extension
• As we know that only one file can be downloaded at a time using FTP connection, Zipped files saved time by downloading all file in once.
• Some folders that contain many system files (.Cab, .Dll, .Exe and many more) take time to copy in flash drives, due to increase in number of files. In this scenario one can create a zip file of the folder and it will be copied instantly thus saving time for both the sender and receiver.

These were the benefits of using zipped (.Zip) file. But soon in the previous years, WinRar is also becoming very popular due to many facts like lower compression ratio and faster decompression. It please all the pirates because people prefer to download games and application which are small in size. the zip extension is eliminating very quickly but still its never bad to use one. If one person want serious compression, then I would recommend him using Winrar due to its popularity and low compression rates at the same time.

So the Winner is: WinRar

Conclusion

As the title suggests, this post was mainly published to choose the best from Winrar and 7Zip. But both of them performed very well in all the tests, but 7Zip missed the SFX test. On the other hand, it beats WinRar in the compression ratio test. So in my opinion, I like WinRar slightly more than 7Zip due to the vast variety of features and accessibility. I am not saying that 7Zip is bad, it also good and useful fr getting more better results but it needs to be more popular than WinRar and I hoe that one day it will replace it Rar files completely. This fight is just like the fight of #Facebook and #Google+. Though Google+ is better than Facebook in all ways, but it still lacks user preference because major population still prefers Facebook and it will take some to change the hood.

And here is your bonus, as I told you above in the post. I have found a file that can be compressed from GB to KB. Yes you saw right, I am saying that you can compress a file of 1 GB into mere 250 KB. the file is located at this location in your GTA: San Andreas game folder:

Drive:\\GtaSA\Audio\SFX

Here in this folder you will find a file named SPC_GA. You can compress this 1.02 GB file into 250 KB using WinRar or 7Zip as you wish. Amazing!!
